Clarence W. Bolton: A Compendium of Images

Updated: Aug 13, 2022

By Bruce Weber

This blog contains images of photographs and works of art relating to the Woodstock artist Clarence W. Bolton. They supplement the images contained in the publication Home Values: The Woodstock Landscapes & Townscapes of Clarence W. Bolton, published in the summer of 2022 on the occasion of the exhibition of Clarence Bolton's work at the Historical Society of Woodstock. The exhibition is on view at the Historical Society of Woodstock from July 2 to August 28, 2022.

A copy of the publication with my essay is available for purchase for $10 at the Historical Society of Woodstock shop, or by going to publications at the Historical of Woodstock website.

Since the exhibition opened a print drawn from the Historical's Society’s litho stone has surfaced, as well as an image of Bolton's award winning textile design of 1929. Images of these works appear here. It has also been learned that Bolton continued past 1929 in creating textile designs for commercial purposes, now working from his base in Woodstock.
